Atheism Queries - Scary Stuff

It's been a little over a month since I posted my advice for religious parents with atheist children and I've already gotten a few frightening (and strange) search queries bringing traffic to the post. This represents just a small fraction of what people are actually searching for out there in the world. There seems to be a lot of general concern about having atheist children. Fortunately a great deal didn't add any negative sentiments to their search queries. However, a few did. And some searches were downright crazy. List of Atheist Search Terms

What? If I do this search, I get a forum post on GoodReads talking about better book titles. I'm hoping they're referencing this, but who knows?

how to deal with a child that thinks they are atheist

Thinks they're atheist? Wouldn't they know? It's their belief. Also, the presumption that the child should be dealt with for their belief is evil enough.

how do i make my kids not atheist

This ridiculous search came from Marysville, Ohio. I don't even know what to say about it.

i hate my som for being atheist

This search came from the Philippines. I can't imagine what he was hoping to find. It sounded like he just wanted someone to talk to, and that someone he turned to was Google. I hope Google told him he's an asshole.

should i punish my child atheist

Only if they do something wrong. Atheist Search Map
These seemed to be popular in Ohio for some reason. Also the Philippines.

Karma Tracking

Moving on up

The company I work for has just launched a new product. It pulls in all sorts of data and metrics and organizes them into widget-based dashboards. You can view historical data, receive notifications and generate reports related to all these metrics.

I built a Reddit User widget for it. It lets me track my comment and link karma in the system. So, if you want to track your own Reddit karma, sign up for the free version.

Christopher Hitchens and Tony Blair

I was checking my blog analytics, as I usually do seeing as I work in SEO. While my personal blog isn't all that impressive, I do get some odd keyword traffic from time to time. Since I had this extra domain lying around, it seemed like a good idea to put it to use.

So, I'll post some interesting findings from my blog's (and other sites') analytics from time to time.

The first one is for my post on the Christopher Hitchens and Tony Blair debate. Of course, there is probably a lot of press and higher authority sites out there that will come up in most searches. It is interesting, though, that when people put an S on Blair and leave it off of Hitchens, then I get ranked in position 4 or 5. I've also managed to get a few one offs probably from people browsing past the first page of results (or maybe have a higher results per page threshold set).

Here are my Christopher Hitchens related analytics:
